The newest White Knight Press camera guide, Photographer’s Guide to the Canon PowerShot S95, is now available through Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, though at the U.K. site it is listed as shipping within 1 to 2 months. That seems like quite a long time for a book that is printed on demand in the U.S., and is supposed to be printed on the demand in the U.K. also, but I have never fully understood the interaction between the printing company (Lightning Source) and the Amazon sites. Eventually, the book should start to ship within 1 or 2 weeks in the U.K., and then, like the earlier books, it should actually be kept in stock so it can ship overnight.
The book is doing quite well on Amazon.com in the U.S., with a sales rank that has recently started going down into the 4-digit range, which means fairly strong sales for a book of this type. Of course, the sales rank will fluctuate up and down; Amazon updates the sales rank once per hour, and it will probably vary fairly widely.
The PDF version of the book, available only through this site, is doing moderately well; the PDF is a good option for buyers in other countries who may not want to pay for international shipping.
Within a week or two, I hope to have the PowerShot S95 book available for the Kindle and in eBook format for the iBooks store, so people can load a version directly onto their iPads. (Of course, you can also load the PDF version onto an iPad, and it looks quite good in that format.) Please watch this site for further developments.
As of April 14, Photographer’s Guide to the Canon PowerShot S95 is available in paperback through Amazon.co.uk. That site currently lists the book as “Temporarily out of stock,” but if you look further down on the page, you will see that the site lists the book as being sold by two third-party sellers — White Knight Press and one other. I received a shipment of books in today here at White Knight Press, and I have about 7 copies available to sell through Amazon.co.uk. Based on experience with my other books, it may take a couple of weeks before the book is listed as “In Stock” at Amazon.co.uk, so I will keep listing it for sale as long as necessary. Of course, it takes about a week for a book to get from here in Virginia, USA, to a buyer in the U.K. or Europe, but the shipping cost is low, because it is based on local rates for shipping from the U.K. If you would like to order one of those books through Amazon.co.uk, please use this link to the book’s product page at Amazon.co.uk.

As I mentioned a few days ago, the PowerShot S95 book went to the printer last Sunday, and, fortunately, everything went well from that point. The printer found no problems with the digital files, and a proof copy was printed two days ago and shipped out to me last night. Today I received it, and Clenise and I have both inspected it and approved it. I just informed the printer that the proof looks fine. Now, they will start sending data about the book’s availability to Amazon.com and other online sellers. It will take a few days, but the book will soon start being available for sale in paperback on Amazon in the U.S. and elsewhere, as well as through other online retailers. I will post updates here as the book becomes increasingly available. In the meantime, it is still available for download in PDF form through this site; see the Canon PowerShot S95 information page for ordering details. The photo below was taken with the PowerShot S95 in Program mode, using the built-in flash.
The Canon PowerShot S95 book is now for sale as a PDF download from this site; see the PowerShot S95 page for details. It will take a good deal longer for the book to come out in paperback, but that process is under way, and is going well so far. I submitted the digital files to the printing company last Sunday, April 3, and both the cover and the interior pages have been approved as of today. The next step is for the printer to generate a proof copy of the book and send it to me for approval. With good luck, they may print the proof toward the end of this week, and I may receive it by about next Monday, April 11. Hopefully there will be no problems in it, and I will approve it the same day it arrives. After the proof copy of the book is approved, the book will automatically be listed with Amazon.com as well as the international Amazon sites, and with other online booksellers, such as Barnes and Noble, Books-a-Million, and quite a few others. That process takes place in a series of small steps — first the book is listed, but may be described as “Unavailable,” then maybe as “Shipping in one week,” and eventually it will be listed as “In Stock.” If it starts to sell fairly well, it eventually will be listed as available for overnight shipping, meaning that Amazon actually orders a number of copies to keep in stock, rather than just ordering copies as they receive orders from customers.
I will make announcements on this site as the paperback version starts to become available at Amazon.com and at Amazon.co.uk in particular.
