A few weeks ago I submitted my application to Apple Computer to become a provider of books in the iBooks store for the Apple iPad. I wasn’t sure how that process would work out, because I had heard that it could be difficult to get approved as an individual publisher. So I was somewhat surprised when, a week or two after I applied, I received an e-mail saying my application had been approved. I then had to complete a contract and submit a good deal of information about my business and my publishing plans. I was then able to submit the one book I have in the proper format as of now (ePub), the book about the Panasonic Lumix LX5 camera. I submitted the ePub file two weeks ago, and never heard back from Apple about the status. But I kept checking, and today, for the first time, I found the book in the iBooks store on my iPad!
I don’t think there’s any way for me to provide a link to the book from this blog or web site; if anyone knows of a way, please let me know. So, if you have an iPad and are interested in the Lumix LX5 book, go to the iBooks app on your iPad and search the iBooks store for Lumix LX5, or some other words from the title. You will find the book there and ready to download. Of course, you can also buy the PDF version of that book from this site, which will load very nicely on your iPad as a PDF file, rather than as an iBook. But now you have the option, if you prefer having the book in the actual iBook format.
